it seems as though nothing note worthy happens in my day so i haven't had much to talk about or much to say. when your typical day begins with the dog whining she needs to be taken out for her walk, my usual highlight of the day happens early in the morning. aaron has been working early and late lately, so our glorious days of seeing each other and hanging out are limited...but we take what we can get. i must say that other than cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the random things with our house, my life right now is not that busy. and i'm learning that finding a job can be very difficult here when your degree is in biology and you really have no experience in that field and most people don't see the value or worth of working with students and teaching them about Jesus. oh the real world...it's made me think a lot about going back to school or getting some type of skill so that when we are at a base or air station in the boonies, i could get a job. i'm not trying to be negative here, i'm just being honest. however, i started "working" this week at Inafa' Maolek (the mediation organization)...actually it's just training for now and then the official work begins in a few weeks. too bad it's only working for 3 weeks...the case manager is just going on vacation but she won't be leaving the island for another year or so. but she is a great girl that has opened up a lot to me about her life, marriage, background, and so forth, so that is worth it all if nothing else.
today my entertainment was going diving with the "Jan Patterson Diving Association." this is a group of mostly women over the age of 45 that go diving together every wednesday together. it was hilarious i must say...these women in their bikinis (some shouldn't have been in them) and all pro in their dive gear. they rent out the whole boat and i ended up being invited (there is a limited group) by a friend so we went. the dives were great...they were drift dives so pretty much all you did was "float" underwater and let the current take you and then you come up and the boat comes and gets you. it's the best kind of diving i must say. this group has been together for like 20 some years and it's air force, navy, and all other types of women...they have shirts that they all wear. too bad i didn't have a pink tank top for the dive today.
here's a picture of us at the change of command a few weeks ago in front of aaron's helicopter. friends of hollie's feel free to leave a message so i know who actually does look at this...
