The search for the missing T-34 and one of the pilots continued. One pilot who was found was put to rest. Grieving happened...the memorial was done very well.
If you've never been to a military memorial service, it is quite moving. Presenting of the colors, the respect, the men in formal attire, salutes, the family of the deceased...the honor paid to someone who died completing the mission is pretty phenomenal...and well deserved. His pregnant wife and parents were there on the front row. It was very quiet.
The part engraved in my mind is when the CO of the squadron got up and read the letter he wrote to Chase, the pilot's young son, about who his dad was...the great pilot and officer he was...the huge smile he had...the fun personality...all in hopes of creating a picture for this young boy who his daddy was since his memories will probably be quite limited. But I do hope he miraculously remembers more than we think a child can.
One a much lighter note, Sam turned 3 weeks old. About 9 pounds.
Yesterday he turned 4 weeks.
Where in the world is time going? He is very strong and is holding his head up very well and even scooting forward when on his tummy. He is on the verge of smiling..can't wait for that. Starting last week he has been sleeping 5-6 hour stretches between feedings. This little man likes his sleep.
Aunt Karen and Uncle Jerry came down this past weekend for Sam's dedication at church. Such a fun treat to have them here to meet Sam. And no, we're not all sunburned...
But the greatest news of the week...Landree Kay is here! Remember the 2 bumps on a log picture? My sister, Angie, had her 4th baby..and her third little girl! I think she had the easiest labor ever and Landree is perfectly beautiful. 7lb 15oz and 20in. Can't wait to meet her in two weeks...and glad Sam has a buddy so close in age.

They actually haven't stopped searching. The military changed Joe's status to deceased, but there is a small band of people who continue to pray and search for Joe. www.findjoehouston.blogspot.com
