Thanksgiving with the folks

|
The Thanksgiving festivities began when my parents arrived on Guam the Sunday before. Early in the week we did an island tour where we snorkeled, stopped alongside the road to take pictures of grazing caribou (above), took pictures of the ocean, and saw almost the entire coast of Guam (all in about 3 hours!). The tour concluded with a nice snack at Chammorro village (the native fair that happens every Wednesday night).

Thanksgiving week Aaron fried a total of 6 turkeys...three for others and three for us. We had several friends over for Turkey day and most of us ended up on the floor taking a nap. Here is Aaron carving while I'm picking away the extras for the turkey gumbo he wants to make in a few weeks. It was yummo.
To work off our turkey on Friday, we went on a little hike to Haputo beach where we played in the water, watched Peanut swim like crazy (we have raised a little doggie swimmer), and enjoyed the view.
But the highlight of the week was probably on Saturday when we went fishing (sorry your head is cut off, Eric!). It's the best kind of fishing. The guide puts the line out and when you get a bite, you sit in the chair, reel it in, and everyone gets excited as John (the guide) whaps the wahoo in the head to kill it. My dad caught (actually it was his turn to reel it in) the big 30 pounder on the bottom of the picture. Needless to say, we gave some fish away, sold some to the fish coop, and then had a fabulous wahoo meal that night. Anyone wanna come visit now?
We had so much fun showing our little Guam world off to parents...they even took us out for a nice dinner (not our tree) at the Hilton. Even though it doesn't feel like the holidays, it was nice to share some of it with familiar faces. We miss you all...
